The Cyberjustice Laboratory is a unique space for reflection and creation, where justice processes are modeled and reimagined to improve access to justice. Our work is characterized by the experimentation of technological innovations, such as artificial intelligence, to optimize the current functioning of justice, so as to increase efficiency, reduce costs and delays, and simplify its workings for all.

The Laboratory's international, multidisciplinary team of researchers, which includes over forty members from the fields of law, psychology, sociology, philosophy, computer science and information science, is working to find concrete solutions to the challenges posed by access to justice in Canada, through the development of a new generation of open-code software tailored to the needs of justice stakeholders.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Work in collaboration with the team on the Laboratory's research projects within the context of ongoing projects on artificial intelligence, conversational agents, the modernization of the judicial system, etc.

You will particularly contribute to the drafting of reports and scientific documents, research on artificial intelligence tools and law, and the working sessions of the Laboratory team, among others.

DESIRED CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Law students with an interest in information technology, artificial intelligence, and research, as well as experience in legal writing.

  • Preference will be given to a graduate student who holds a bachelor's degree in law from a Quebec university. Applications from undergraduate students are also accepted.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent proficiency in both French and English.

  • Deep knowledge of the Civil Code of Quebec.

  • Independence; precision, and attention to detail

THE FOLLOWING KNOWLEDGE WOULD BE SIGNIFICANT ASSETS:

  • Knowledge of information technology in general and artificial intelligence in particular.

  • Proven experience in scientific writing and knowledge dissemination (writing articles, blog posts...).
