In Thompson v. Procrane Inc. (c.o.b. Sterling Crane), the Alberta Court of Appeal considered whether service of originating documents by email can be sufficient and compliant with the rules of court. The underlying controversy related to two appeals of an Occupational Health and Safety Council decision. Thompson had been terminated from his job at Procrane Inc. because he had reported safety concerns to Alberta Occupational Health & Safety.
